"Six Years of Celebrity
Piss-Takes, Suck-Ups
and Brush Offs:
My Street Press Years"

From 2001 to 2007 I was an underpaid freelance film critic and arts journalist for a variety Australian magazines, websites and streetpress, including:

  • Revolver/The Brag (for which I was one of the main comedy and film writers for 200+ issues)
  • FilmInk
  • Freerange
  • Sain (where I had a monthly column from 2004-2006)
  • Vibewire
  • Beat Magazine Melbourne
  • Canberra City News
  • Time Off Brisbane
  • Hotpress
  • ResidentAdvisor.com.au
  • Urban Cinefile
  • Stu Magazine
  • talk magazine
  • fasterlouder.com.au
  • Duke Magazine
  • and some obviously memorable others.
By rough count, during my six years as a press screenings slut, I had over 500 reviews and interviews published (when you're getting paid $20 for 500 words, you tend to type REALLY fast).

However, due to the ephemeral nature of the internet, I recently discovered that virtually none of my musings from this time have survived online.

So, for the sake of posterity and providing samples to potential employers, I've picked out some memorable fireside chats from my freelance salad days, and resurrected them here at BananaReport.net.

Enjoy.
